Antique Metal La Paloma Covered Candy Dish Music Box The music plays correctly when the lid is removed (when the cover is in place, the music won't play). I am not sure what music it is, I don't recognize the song, but I'm not a music expert. I'm not sure what the bowl was originally intended to hold. Maybe candy, maybe make-up powder, maybe something else, it's a mystery. It can hold maybe half a cup of something in it, it's not a huge bowl. Since it's circular it probably uses those old disc format music box things, but I didn't open it up to check its internal mechanisms, that's just my guess. There's a small chip under the handle that you turn, see photos. The bottom looks like it's wood that was painted with some type of shiny silver paint, since under the chip I can see wood. But the upper area and lid are metal (not sure which metal, maybe tin or aluminum?) The whole thing weighs about 12 oz and is 6 inches in diameter at its widest.
